Description
The Ellwanger Guest House is part of a more significant estate that includes a bed and breakfast and historic gardens. The House is classic Victorian and has many grand features that hark back to those by-gone days. The house has two units, each with its unique features. The Upper Lodging is modern and recently has been updated and has a private entrance. The Upper Lodging is a 2-bedroom completely furnished 1100 sq ft. apartment located on the third floor. It includes a fully equipped kitchen with stainless appliances, a dining nook, a spacious living room, two queen-sized bedrooms, and a large bath with washer dryer. The apartment rental includes all utilities, has central air conditioning, WiFi, and cable television. There’s plenty of room to spread out for up to four people to enjoy quiet comfort while in Rochester.
Outdoors there are amazing gardens, including a historical one that is located by Ellwanger Estate Bed and Breakfast. Aside from strolling the property and enjoying its scenic landscapes, there is a patio with a barbecue for grilling up dinner on a summer’s evening. The patio area is for both apartments to enjoy.
The Ellwanger Guest House is located in the heart of the Mt Hope / Highland Historic District and one block from the Genesee River. It is within easy walking distance to Highland Park, the site of the annual Lilac Festival and the renowned Victorian Mt. Hope Cemetery. The cemetery is an extremely unique attraction with it’s 196 magnificent acres of lofty hills and picturesque valleys created by glaciers. The University of Rochester, Strong Memorial and Highland Hospitals, and College Town are all within a hearty walking distance, and downtown Rochester is only about a 5-minute drive from the house.
