Description
The Ellwanger Guest House is part of a more significant estate that includes a bed and breakfast and historic gardens. The House is classic Victorian and has many grand features that harken back to those by-gone days.
The Lower Lodging has two private entrances and comes completely furnished with both period pieces and contemporary furnishings. The lower level contains the rooms for entertaining. On this level are a classic Victorian dining room, small office, music room, and a contemporary furnished living room with a flat-screen television. The quintessential grand staircase brings you up to the second floor, where there are three bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom comes with a king-sized bed that is adjoined by separate sitting and dressing rooms. The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and a view of the gardens and the third bedroom comes with two twin beds.
There’s plenty of room to spread out for up to six people to enjoy quiet comfort while in Rochester.
Outdoors there are amazing gardens, including a historical one that is located by Ellwanger Estate Bed and Breakfast. Aside from strolling the property and enjoying its scenic landscapes, there is a patio with a barbecue for grilling up dinner on a summer’s evening. The patio area is for both apartments to enjoy.
The Ellwanger Guest House is located in the heart of the Mt Hope / Highland Historic District and one block from the Genesee River. It is within easy walking distance to Highland Park, the site of the annual Lilac Festival and the renowned Victorian Mt. Hope Cemetery. The cemetery is an extremely unique attraction with it’s 196 magnificent acres of lofty hills and picturesque valleys created by glaciers. The University of Rochester, Strong Memorial and Highland Hospitals, and College Town are all within a hearty walking distance, and downtown Rochester is only about a 5-minute drive from the house.
